You can be the one person in a child's life who learns about them, who believes in them, and who doesn't give up on what's in their best interest.
Join a successful volunteer program which has been helping local abused and neglected children for 15 years.
CRISIS: Currently, there are more than 300 children in foster care in Barrow, Jackson, and Banks Counties.
After successfully completing an application, an interview, our free training, fingerprints and background checks, you will be sworn in as an officer of the Juvenile Court and be assigned to a child in foster care.
What would you do as a CASA Volunteer?
1. Visit your children monthly
2. Meet with all the important people in their life
3. Gather information about the child and family through the schools, medical providers and other sources using your court order
4. Make written recommendations to the Juvenile Court Judge about what is in the child's best interests.
5. Attend court hearings and meetings concerning the child
6. Continue to keep the focus on the child, on their needs, and on helping them achieve a safe and permanent home.
What will you experience as a CASA Volunteer? Even though there is frustration in working with the child welfare system, there is joy in seeing a child become a child again, knowing that they don't have to worry about where the next meal is coming from or where they are going to lay their heads for the night, seeing a child reunited with family or adopted.
A local foster child is waiting for your help so they can have a brighter future.
